Long beach

The weather was so awesome this weekend, that we spent most of it outdoors...either experiencing it first hand with the sun on our faces or with friends around the pool.

These were taken at Long Beach, a beautiful stretch of our coast line 30 minutes drive from our house...that is thankfully still pretty much natural & fairly unspoiled by commercialism. The owners of the opulent {expensive} beach houses you can see, are mostly vacationers or nature lovers themselves....so they are all for peace, quiet & no need shops or restaurants either. It is one of our fave things to do on the rare occasion when the wind isn't too bad.

The tide was ridiculously low...rare for this time of year!

Hopefully this weekend will be the same & we can head out there again. Nothing like gorgeous views & fresh air to clear the head & invigorate the weary body from an epic 4 hour stint of Criminal minds the night before. (We are suckers for a good DVD series. One is just never enough)

Well you guys have yourselves a super day!

Evidence.

You know it's been weekend in our home by the debris that lies around the house. If you look carefully, it tends to be debris with purpose, courtesy of Max. Yes, we have a boy in the house!

Have a look......cars in a boot...........(because boots have handles...easy to carry around, duh!)
Piles of puzzles, bits of wire, modeling clay, books & other such things...
Crazy clay critters....
Neat rows of cars being led by Mr M&M, dragging a large silver padlock.....important stuff this.
Various containers filled with a treasure trove of bits 'n bobs.....
Meet 'Clucky-benalyn-phil-notty'....our resident rubber toad, who has been responsible for the raised heart rate of more than one unsuspecting visitor.
(Uniquely named by Master M. Watson himself)
We also had Bambi visit us.....but shame, the hunters caught him & put him in a cage. See his sad face...? (M is such an act!)We went to Levi's birthday on Friday, where Mel had these super cool rides for the kiddies. Had to share this really bad happy-snap of Max perfecting his, 'I'm tired of flash bulbs & Mamarazzi' face. One of the downfalls of being a scrapbooker....too many camera's around all the time.
And that's all folks...I'll post something scrappy a bit later.

Ok I'm back!

Ag...I could but I'm not :o) going to apologize for being for being so absent from the bloggy world since ......Thursday.....my nerves, as long as that?? I just didn't feel like it. After a week of solid scrapping I was really tired of my paper, PC & photo's.

I am pleased to report tho' that we had an amazing weekend!
Breakfast overlooking the beach on Saturday AM was perfect.....but Maxi was having trouble with his chest again, so didn't stay too long and opted to spend the arvi @ home chilling, with Disney's~ Dinosaur movie on DVD. Sometimes getting Max to sit still, is the best way to get his chest relax & open again. Sit still he did....what an unbelievable movie!!!! To think it was made in 2000 & they were already achieving such high levels of animation...WOW! if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour & watch it. (It has a good story too).

My quirky husband, has a pallet for really odd sandwich fillings. Check this one out.....

Peanut butter, apricot jam & cheese Knicknack chips all piled thickly onto homemade wholewheat bread~ Uuugh! it looks so gross! On Sunday after church, we headed behind the boerewors (type of Afrikaans sausage) curtain (loosely translated~ North Cape Town, where all the fancy Afrikaans people live), to visit the Semple family. What a fine time we all had too.....we were fed & entertained all day....thank-you you lovely bunch!! Max is so taken with the Semple kiddlets that he has officially adopted them as Cousin Hannah, Caleb & Joshuah.....welcome to the family guys. As it turns out, Andrew's Mom's maiden name is Watson too, so I suppose we are related a couple of times removed. We went to the park to let the kids run & I managed to get some great Semple family shots. Prepare yourself for a photograph marathon...
I won't post too many pic's of the Semples....you can go to Stef's blog & see them there...did you notice my bloke on the plane jungle-gym???? 46 (& a haaf-properly said with an American draawl :o) & still fit & able to play & climb with the boys.....I'm glad he's all MINE!!! heehee!

Well that's all for now folks...have a super day!

Great time.

OK....so blogger wasn't working yesterday! VERY IRRITATING!!!! nothing would load...text or otherwise. Today it works....I dunno!
So here goes....again... hahaha!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------O
Hi there everyone.....hope you are all well & happy?? We had a fun full weekend of much kuiering (translation~visiting) & getting out & about, so I just wasn't up to blogging much. I have a million & one pic's to post, so grab a coffee, get comfie & prepare yourselves for a 'Watson' expose'.
On Saturday, we ventured down the West Coast to a Farm stall/Petting Zoo for lunch with the children. They had such fun playing ....while we ate delicious fare....relaxed & generally recharged.
Yum!! lemon/meringue pie....Tersh's fav! Not my thing I am thankful to say!

Treats for the kiddlets.....candy floss for Cas & a cookie man for Max.

On Sunday....we ventured up the mountain to Tokai forest for a family picnic. It was idyllic! There was not a breath of wind, the temp's were perfect & the kids were on their best behaviour. They played, I took photo's & we walked & walked. The fresh air really clears the mind. It was a great way to prepare for a hectic week for Tersh.

Well now that you are all saturated with photographs of the Watson's, I hope you are enjoying your week.

Weekend photo post!

Hi there folks! Hope you are well & rested after the weekend? We had a real good one, with loads of time spent together, swimming, pottering at home, with the occasional outing thrown in. The highlight of my weekend was seeing Max draw properly for the first time. As you already know he is NOT crafty in an manner. He enjoys painting at school & gets involved with whatever they are doing but at home he chooses not to do any of the above. This weekend I saw him pick up the pen & perfectly {well as perfect as possible at his age} trace pictures, numbers & letters in his wipe books....I was astounded! It was almost like it just twigged in his brain somewhere, that he could do it........so I proud to finally say....my son drew this :o)

We visited the park a couple of times too....ate ice lolley's & felt the sun on our backs.

And spent quality time together horsing around at home. This is us messing around with the 'instamatic' point & shoot camera...we all took turns holding the camera above our heads......even Maxi had a turn.....it was loads of fun.

Well guys, I must get back to my Digi project I am doing for a local mag. It is taking a little longer than I expected because my lap top is behaving hormonally today & giving me loads of jip. Thankfully I have booked it in to the PC doc on Friday for an overhaul. I wouldn't be a happy chicken if anything had to 'go wrong', lest I actually say the words....if you know what I mean. I don't want to invite any sort of PC trouble before then......look what happened to Joscie....heavens!!

Have a super rest of your day...I will chat soon.

Photo post!

This is the easiest way to condense our weekend into one post & quicker much than writing something. Ok, Ok I am just feeling a tad lazy today! I hope you enjoy it.

*We spent ridiculous amounts of time in the pool*

*Max decided he needed a new name "Captain Hammer",
the be-caped super hero!!*

*Our walk in the forest was divine! I took 311 photo's...and as my mantra
goes.....
'Cover it with volume !'*

*Dad & Max balanced on the highest bridge/branch/stump they could find. Boys!!!*

*Me getting creative with my camera. Please note all of the above were taken with my tiny Canon 1000, point & shoot. Not bad hey?*

Later!

Oh joy!!!

Joy comes in many forms......we had plenty of them this weekend.
We decided on Friday, that this weekend would be a 'holiday' weekend. Our original plan was to find a little B&B to stay in for two nights but short notice threw the plans out and we were unable to find anywhere that had space available. But we made the most of it anyway and had a fine time!!!

Our FIRST JOY was in the form of a leisurely brekkie under the trees at our fav coffee shoppe, with French toast, bacon & unbelievable coffee. The highlight was Maxi asking the waitress if he could have : " Biscotti, please!" .....excuse et moi!

Our SECOND JOY was being able to visit a Farmers Market nearby. Not only were we able to sample delicious home bakes from various stalls but we were able to buy and sample fresh organic vegetables grown by the lovely people we met at the market. We were blown away by a group of African ladies who create art from other peoples garbage. It was the most beautiful thing to see up close, the colours were brilliant and the design incredibly ingenious. Max was fascinated by the color Tree, he found tucked inside an inner courtyard. Wow! He also got an opportunity to visit with a real live brass band. They were the live music for the affair and were so supportive of Maxi's love of the saxophones. They put him on stage with them & surprisingly enough Max was overcome by shyness. He did this little 'finger-in-the-cheek' thing for all the photographs. Sweet hey?

The view from the farm across the valley is nothing short of amazing!! The weather was questionable, cold & yet so full of contrast that it was impossible not to be in awe of God's creativity & to think he did all of this that we might find JOY in it.

We had an unbelievable relaxing, family time that we needed so badly!!! Tersh is working ridiculous hours & I am struggling to adjust to my new life. Our need for 'us' time is paramount for our sanity but in the busy-ness of life, it is easier said than done. So this weekend was long overdue!

Our THIRD JOY came in the form of a Fun Fair organised at one of the Primary Schools in a neighboring suburb. It was FREEZING and we were horribly under dressed but for the sake of a little boy completely overjoyed to see so many rides to go on.....it was worth the hypothermia.
He was like a Eveready battery bunny.....bouncing & dashing to & fro, trying to decide which ride to go on next. The elation on his face when he got onto those carousel horses is something I will never forget. Oh to be young enough again, not to be affected by the external things which can so easily trap......he never saw the chipped paint, the rusty wheels, the missing ears, the awful tinny music, the taped up gates. Years of wear & tear from 1000's of tiny bottoms eager & bursting with the joy of childhood experience. He just saw it for what it was.....his first Fun Fair & it was Fun personified!!!! Flip!!! I am loving being this child's Mama. As hard as it can be, moments like these are the fuel my soul needs to get through the next batch of challenges I am sure I will experience as a first time Mama.

Thanks for stopping in to read my blog guys and double thanks to all those who had the kindness of heart to leave me a comment. I love knowing who stopped in.
