Ooooo! they feel tight.

These were the words that broke through my AM fog this morning. Maxi had gotten up at some SILLY hour (it was still dark I might add), I told him to go and amuse himself, lest he would have to deal with an ULTRA-'grompy' Mama.

He duly did as he was told and pottered around for about half an hour. When came back to our room & I heard him let himself out into the yard via our sliding door. I assumed he was having a wee. When he came back in I was relieved to see he had wrestled his clothes back on by himself...wheeeu! that meant I could slug in the bed with him for another 10 minutes or so before he started demanding breakfast. He just couldn't keep still tho', he squirmed & turned until I just got up.

All through breakfast he wriggled & complained non stop about the tag on his undies being irritating . I thought he'd eaten too much when he said the undies were too 'flippin' tight (I am ashamed to admit that 'flippin', is my horrid influence on my child...I am trying to remedy it tho') . This is when I thought I'd better see what was going on with those undies......& this is what I found........

Hahahahah! the poor little guy had somehow squeezed himself through one of the legs of the undies & had the waist elastic between his legs. I can't believe he persevered for as long as he did....talk about getting some serious chafe going on.

The joys & pains of growing up hey???

Profoundly Max!

The other day we went to the mall....not my most favourite of chores, especially as Max was with me....not his most favourite past-time either. As a reward for good behaviour he could choose a toy from the Crazy store (bearing in mind it is the equivilant of the $ store & anything purchase there has a very limited lifespan). He chose a fishing rod, complete with magnetic hook & 5 colourful fishies to catch.

He was in-love......the wrappings came off as soon as we were in the car. He fiddled, reeled & had loads of fun 'catching' his fishies all the way home. We pulled up in the drive & Max was getting seriously worked up in back, trying to get himself unbuckled from his car seat. He was desperate to get out of the car. I, sensing impending drama, hastened the process & bundled him inside the house, expecting an urgent toilet trip or something. I was wrong.......Maxi bolted past me into the kitchen, straight to the drawers where I keep the tupperware. I by this time had realised he was on a mission & asked:

Me: Baba, what's going on?

Max: I am very busy Mama!

Me: With what honey, can I help you?
Max: I need to find a bowl Mama. My fishies need a bowl!
Me: Oh, sure but why babes?

Max: They need to be in the water, cos they can't breathe!
Me: Oh, yes you are so right...silly me!

Once the fishies were safely deposited in their new home {one of Max's juice bottles}, only then did he relax & proceeded to spend the whole afternoon, gazing into his 'fish tank'.

I never knew, he knew, about fish needing to be in water to be able to breathe. Once again I underestimate the power of learning via verbal 'osmosis'.

We are going!!!

This will be us in a month or two!!

I confirmed the tickets today....YIPEE!!!! I am still pinching myself that it is real. Wow! I can't wait to see my family again......I get so lonely for them, now all we need is a bit of snow for Maxi's first white Christmas. Please can you pray people that if this is indeed what God wants for Tersh & our family, that He will open the right doors for him to find the job of his dreams.

Best I get onto the internet & do a bit of stash shopping........'cos postage to Toronto is certainly cheaper than Cape Town.

Before I go I must tell you about a nugget that is definitely amo' for my next scrap page. To set the scene.....were driving home from church on Sunday along the coast. The road we took overlooks the ocean, so one can see for miles around False Bay....when a voice pipes up from the back:

Max: Oh look there guys {Max's new word}.
{Suitably distracted not to take much notice}Mama: ...oh WOW! babes.
Max: Mama, you are not looking!
{so much for that trick} Mama: Oh sorry, Moeks, what must I look at??
Max: The oil rig, over there.
Mama: Huh? oil rig???
Max: Yes mama, it is sucking oil out the ground.
{Double huh??????}Mama: Wow! thats amazing boy!!! Do you know what we need oil for???
{Matter of factly}Max: Of course mama, cars need oil & fuel to go!
{Now speechless} Mama: You are right about that honey, where did you learn that love?
Max: You told me Mama!!
Mama: Oh! did I....I forgot?

The moral of this story is that they are ALWAYS listening, learning, absorbing, sponging, so don't underestimate the effect your constant chatter has on their developing minds. They HEAR everything......GOOD & BAD, so be ever careful about what leaves your mouth, less you want to hear it coming out of theirs.

Have a fab. day....chat soon.
