Pineapple mini book + FREE cut file.

With summer in the air & this weeks focus being on ‘Fancy Cuts’, I thought you, as loyal FP fans, might enjoy a FREE cut file & mini book idea.
Using the gorgeous Summer Sun collection, I created this Pineapple shaped mini book, I know you will love!

To create the cute pineapple shaped covers, I layered yellow & orange plain papers which can be found on the reverse sides of the Summer Sun patterned papers. I used the aqua papers for the leaves & cut pineapple slices in x2 sizes, layering them together with buttons for the decorative flower. Twine & a fewephemera complete the arrangement, with a title cut from another brag card.

The inside pages are brag cards inserted into a folded paper strip, concertina style. SEE my post here for a FULL TUTORIAL. Just add photos, simple embellishments & journaling.

Here are a few of the inside pages, to give you an idea of how less is more when designing these decorative kinds of mini albums. I still want to add a few journaling strips, but the simple embellishments, definitely keep the focus on the photographs.

Here is another close up of the cover…and you are all done! This pineapple is sure to be a showstopper on your summer mantel!
As promised, here is the FREE Pineapple Mini Book cut file.

It's a first!

I have never made a calender before, until now and do you know what, it was such fun.

If you are keen to see the rest of the project, take a look here.

On the home front, our whole family has been sick all week with some weird virus...I hate being sick. My biggest worry though is Maxi who is running such high fevers at the moment, it is scary. If it doesn't drop by morning, I guess it'll be a visit to the doc.
Please pray for him if you get a gap.
Thanks a million!

Wanna see something FAB!

I wanted to tell you a bit about my sweet bloggie buddy Dedra. She is a fantastic scrapper, great mom & wonderful person. For a while she has had this great idea for a little business. Well this week everything went on air.

As a starter she is offering handmade minibooks....These beauties will be great for gifts, classic mini photo albums, journals for yourself, or add a personal touch by creating a scrapbook ...the sky is the limit for these creative albums.

Dedra has a very unique take on scrapbooking & because of this you can clearly see a 'Dedra Long Mini' a mile off. All her creations have have special characteristics which include sewing, stamping with glitter and added transparent frames great for journaling or a photo....and her use of often non-traditional items make them absolute eye candy!

So if anyone is looking for a special gift for someone, of a personal spoil, pop over to her blog & take a look at what she has on offer.

Well as for me I am doing not a heck of a lot today, other than a NASTY supermarket trip & possibly some scrapping which always brightens my day.So have a good one. I'll blog again a bit later.

Scrappy day!

Morning gals! I don't have much time to yak right now, so I'll keep it short & sweet! I have what feels like 100's of mini's to finish (gross exaggeration obviously :o) & I have a whole stack of 12 x12's to photograph/scan & get re-sized to send in by Monday. Yikes! I am snowed under...and it is all self inflicted I might add too :o)

This is what my scrap space looks like right now hahahaha! so much for Mrs. Neat! It's what I can creative process....ya right, no-one really believes that??

These are the mini's I have in mind for the projects....my mind is a bit boggled as what to do tho'. I have some ideas floating around in the grey matter...now to get it into the albums is the other story. Sorting through what photo's to print is another issue too.....Oh dear! I might be a tad behind schedule don't you think? Oh Hunnie........feel like baby-sitting this weekend?????

:o) :o) I don't have the heart to ask him do it the whole weekend tho'. Best I get a time schedule up and running......any tips Bridget.....? She who is the Maestro of Busy schedules!

Have a super day guys!

No time like the present!

Have you had any projects lying around that you just haven't gotten to or have been putting off, like for ever?
This is where i put my hand way up high!

I have......so on Tuesday after I finished putting in my application for at DT position at this really cute site Alley Scraps (pray I get it, won't you!); I decided there was no time like the present to tackle our honeymoon album. Yes, yes! I can hear the raucous laughter......I know it was 6 years ago...but I have a legit excuse.....Ummmmm! I do really, I do.
Anyhow moving right along....the point of the matter is that I did it; I finished the album. And I LOVE it! Now, those scrapping buddies of mine out there, who know me well, have heard me bleat on countless times about how :' I don't have any clue how to do mini albums', well the corner has been turned, I can officially say I finished my very own mini album. The great thing I have discovered about mini albums is that their size determines the width of the photo's, so sorting, re-sizing & printing out (using PS) is a breeze. I also had such fun not following 'the rules' by inserting momentous, extra photo's, notes etc I love the eclectic mix of bright colours, printed papers & odd embellishments. I was an incredibly fun exercise to do.

I must WARN you though, that sheer or clear albums are NOT for the feint hearted or those in a rush. It has to be carefully planned because what you do on the one side, can be seen through the page onto the other side & there fore has to be covered (exactly) underneath. Double sided papers make life much easier but you still need to plan it well. The cover with the tiny pic's was inspired by a page done by Caroline Ikeji. Please note the AL stamps :o)

I will stop yakking now & show you the album.

Well that's all for now folks...have a happy family, scrappy weekend.
