At the mall!

We braved the mall this weekend. To put you in the picture, I hate the mall, Tersh loathes it & Max...well let's say...if he comes with ever, I need to take Valium before hand.

We headed out to the large Pick 'n Pay hyper in Ottery, we had heard through the media it had undergone a major revamp, so we thought we'd hit groceries & last minute shopping for Christmas all at the same time, whilst having 'an improved shopping experience'. We got there early, so by 9.30am we were already in the store trawling for the goodies we needed. 15 minutes later Max was climbing the walls, Tersh was in his happy place...& I was cursing the person who invented super stores, vowing to give internet shopping a bash. Then in a moment of genius, I wondered if maybe Max was just hungry.(He has been growing like a sprout over the last 6 weeks; 2cm according to the doc). One of these & a toastie sorted him out.....thankfully there was a restaurant inside the store. (Hunger can be a crazy thing sometimes~ Hahaha!)

The Christmas vibe was everywhere...blasting out of the radio overhead, decorations, store staff dressed as elves...they pulled out all the stops. (I admit we did have a moments silence for all the male store staff, dressed in green & purple tights, pointy hats complete with fake elf ears attached.) Sad & tell you sad, to see them cringe & jiggle as most of the women who pass by drop their eyes to their....crotches. I hope the $ was worth it? ROFL!!

With all the festive decorations out, Max had a ball & insisted on touching each display we passed...my cheque book winced each time. I had visions of smashed decorations raining down on us...where oh where was the Valium when I needed it?

On a different note, we found with the store revamp, that they had installed a shiny new spice section...Wow! it was a sensory overload...the colours & smells had my mouth watering in minutes. I spoke to the Indian lady there, who said if I came back sometime, she would mix me up a special blend of spices to make curry just how I remember it, from my days in Durban (Laci's I'll let you know how it turns out:o)

Afterward we headed home to spend the rest of the weekend in the pool. The temp's soared to 35-40C....bloomin' hot I tell you, especially as we were in long sleeves just a couple of weeks ago. There was no adjusting...Summer arrived with a bang!!

This is where I hope to spend most of our Christmas break.....bum in spotty chair, drinking copious amounts of diet Pepsi & reading a good book. Bring on summer....woohoo!! I can do this!

Well girlies! That's my news...I'll be in touch in a couple of days!
Later!

Spring break!

We have Max @ home for the next little while over Spring break! See... evidently the cherry tree at Maxi's play school thinks it is Spring....I beg to differ though, the weather's still freezing!!

Although it is great having Max at home, I struggle to find him things to do. On Friday we went to a movie together....Open Season 2. Max loved it but I loved it MORE! I was one of about 10 adults in the cinema...& I was the only one laughing at the top of my voice. It really tickled my funny bone....& was highly entertaining. OK I admit it I am a slap-stick kinda gal, so this movie was right up my alley.

The weekend was incredibly 'non'... we didn't do anything much, other than act as referee between Cas & Max...I ask you?...She is 10 & he is 4....what on earth could be that important, that requires squabbling over to sort out.
Admittedly he was trouble on two legs tho'....as you can clearly see here by the look on his cheeky face, he was impersonating the...
" Pharoh of Egypt....that means I am the King....and
I want juice now!!!"

The two of them got SO irritating, that at the first hint of sunshine we headed to Slangkop beach in Kommetjie, to get some fresh air & a good dose of vitamin D.

Our neighbor, Taylor, came along too...she & Cas are best buddies. It will be a very sad day when they climb onto the aeroplane in 2 months time & we have to wave them goodbye. They like 1000's of others, are ducking out of SA while they still can & heading for a new life in Australia.
We had a great time there...collecting shells & bits of broken beach glass that were washed up onto the sand. With the massive storms that have been buffeting our coast line, all sorts of treasures have been thrown up onto the beaches. Max true to form, created an awesome beach art sculpture, using everything he could lay his hands on. It was beautiful and people stopped & commented, which thrilled Max, being the social cat he is...he LOVED it!!
The girls who are at that weird tween stage..."couldn't be seen dead doll!!" without large sunnies & handbags. Although it didn't take long before all the accessories forgotten, discarded & dumped with me to 'guard' while they went climbing on the rocks....girls!!

I did catch this SUPER cute moment on camera, which made up for all their squabbling earlier...obviously their wrath was short lived.....good for them, even better for the frazzled parents :o)

Thanks to my trusty tripod, I was able to get this shot....family shots are all to few in my albums, so it will be great to have a new one.

Well guys that's all for now. I promise I will try & blog more often...I am just down right lazy!!
So have a good one.
Over & out...KJ XXX

Finished!

It is finally done. The liquidation of my clothing company finally happened today. It has been going on for a year now with my partner dragging things out, leaving me hanging and waiting. Even though I haven't been involved there for a year now...it has been hell for me, the never knowing what is going on, the lack of communication from my partner, ug! it has been horrible. Well I went to court today & the papers are signed...I am free at last. Thank the Lord!!

Afterwards, my bloke took me out for a celebratory coffee @ a new restaurant called Knead, on the beach, overlooking False Bay. It was a stunning experience. They have renovated this beautiful deco building to its former glory, complete with million crystal chandeliers & marble work.
We had such a great time together. Flat Joscie was our guest...of course. And we dined on pastries made in the Knead bakery & perfect coffee. Flat Joscie did however, get very distracted by the Roxy shoes @ the surf shop at the back of the restaurant, we know how much she loves Roxy pumps; we could hardly pull her away LOL!
When we eventually did, we took a short stroll on Muizenberg beach & admired the view of Simon's Town & Cape Point in the distance. It was short lived though, because minutes later the heavens opened @ we were pelted by sheets of icy rain. Winter has arrived in the Cape :o(
Have a great day everyone...until the next exciting blog post..hahaha!
Luv ya!

Zoo!

We went to the zoo the other day....not that is can really be classified as a zoo but rather a sanctuary for rescued animals. It is privately owned & funded....so even though it is rundown and a bit ratty, we like to visit & do our part to keep it open. It wasn't a planned trip, we sort of went for a drive & ended up there. It ended up being great fun.

Maxi got himself organised for the drive....book on animals....sunglasses for the 'bright light'....Whiskers the cat for company & snack box.....heaven to a 3yr old.

The big cats were fantastic.... & HUGE!

And then we saw this baby.....aaaaaw!
There was a whole litter of teeny-tiny wild cats, it is hard so to believe that
this adorable ball of fluff grows into a huge cat.

This pic is for all those Jungle book fan's out there....

And then there were these animals......Oh! is us....haha!

On the way home the sky behind Table Mountain was amazing!

Have a great day everyone! XX

Lazy days!

This is a wonderful gift I received in the mail from my blog buddy, Martha, who lives in Ohio, USA. She very thoughtfully chose and sent me this wonderful Pampered chef recipe book. The recipes are really simple BUT incredibly interesting. I can't wait to experiment.

Thank~you so much my friend. I LOVE it! (I can't believe how fast it got to me ;o)

This weekend was certainly full of those.....we did nothing really except potter around the house & the garden, doing stuff you never really get around to ordinarily.

Tersh washed the cars.......a momentous occasion in our household!!!! The car wash down the road normally does the job in about three minutes flat & you leave wondering if the car actually ever gets clean. So to get the personal touch from T, is indeed a great thing ;o) We have a cul-de-sac @ the garage side of our house & T had set himself up with the hose (attached to the well point), bucket, soap, brush etc. & Maxi was zooting around on his motor bike just enjoying 'being with' his Dad. At one point T looked up & noticed Max was not with him any longer, only to see him emerge from the garage with his large leather gardening gloves on each hand, buck naked, screaming :"Watch me DAD! I'm a racing driver!!" as he scooted into the road.

The rest of the weekend was spent lazing @ home or walking around our neighborhood or visiting our local play park. It was SUPER relaxing & fun to spend time with my boys.

I love our home here in Cape town & on those rare gem's of a day, when the wind doesn't blow, it is truly a slice of heaven. We have a natural river that runs through the public land that is at the end of our road & even now that it is so unkempt due to lack of council resources, it is still beautiful. Overlooking the mountain behind our home makes for unbelievable sunsets....... & we get to see them now because the sun only sets at about 7.30pm. Yaaay! for summer!. More scrapping amo for the Mammaratzzi! not that I need any more amo at the moment. I am on a scrapping serious roll!!! I took some advice from my good friend Mel.....she said that I should maybe try and do some spontaneous L.O's for a change, instead of every L.O being a planned work of art. I did just that and managed to finish x3 L.O's in one day. Yeeehah! that is a MAJOR feat for moi! I haven't scanned them yet, but as soon as I do I will post them.

Anyhow folks.....I hope you all have a blessed week & thanks again to all those who take the time to leave me a message I LOVE seeing who have popped in for a visit.

Early start.

My day started REAL early this am. Maxi was up @6.15am {I was shattered to say the least!} Why you ask, if I got to bed at a decent hour???? Me... bed at a decent hour NEVER!!! & the fact that I am still fighting with my darn mattress, yip my new one :o( I didn't get much in the way of sleep.....the up side is that I did get to see the world just after dawn.....I was pleasantly surprised, it was lovely so took some pic's from my studio.

This is where I spend my pre-scrapping hours.....sorting, photoshop-ing & printing photographs.

The next pic is a picture from the top looking down into my husbands office space...{he runs his design shop from home}.

This is the view of the mountain behind our house.....well across the road anyhow.....

And the last one I am embarrassed to say, is one of my scrap space.....mid L.O. I have a policy when I scrap......Mess like mad while busy but once finished, clean up COMPLETELY! then soon afterwards, I start the whole process all over again.

I have finally finished a double L.O that I have been pushing around for days.....I had the idea in my head but just couldn't get the execution right. I am pleased to say that a couple of Jennifer Pebbles digi printables did the job & I am thrilled with the result. I wish I could post it here but I need to get it through to Jana Lilly @ CK first.....sorry guys! Soon I will be able to post some of my new L.O's, I promise.

Well, I gotta run & do some errands. Have a super duper day & I will try & post again tomorrow.
Love
