'Art' you cute!

I have been trying really hard to get Maxi to engage in crafty activities. I have to keep them focused on subjects that he relates to otherwise his attention span is about 1 minute....so yesterday we made a mobile for his room. It was of planets, stars & included rocket & the little Einsteins....right up his alley, so much so that he did it happily with me for most of the afternoon.

He started off the exercise by by covering himself in stickers.....I call it part of the 'mental preparation process' needed to psych himself up for a craft session. We then coloured in all the relevant bits 'n pieces...& he did quite well actually considering his usual modus operandi is to scribble. We then stuck all the paper onto card board....with the amount of glue he used...they will never come off. I then cut the pictures out, tied fishing gut to each of them & he helped me tie everything to a reshaped wire hanger. Viola! a gorgeous mobile which he proudly tells everyone, we made together.

A a gift to encourage him in his love of space, our solar system & planets; I found Maxi this amazing wall chart. He educates both Tersh & I every opportunity he can, about what the names of all the planets are. When I was his age, I didn't even know what space was, let alone what the names of all the planets are. Times have definitely changed. LOL!Don't you love bright colours....especially if they are fat envelopes that are jet setting overseas as we 'speak' :o)

Mad house!

Here in the Watson household we are frantically preparing for Maxi's 4th birthday tomorrow. He is so excited he could pop....hence the new anthem being sung at full volume whenever any of us remembers:
"It's MY birthday!!!It's MY birthday!!!"

Last night this is what the kitchen looked like at 9.30pm.....

but by this morning I was able to shimmy Maxi off to school with Aunty Sarah, armed to the teeth with delish looking cupcakes.

Leaving me to quickly head off to buy party boxes for the kiddies grub & sparklers because what is a rocket cake without sparklers???? Yip....I have been commissioned by Max to make him a rocket cake. Each year the kiddlets get to choose a cake, which T & I make & decorate with love & complete dedication.

Faithful fans I will keep you posted!!
Have a fab! day!!!

Yellow.

My day seemed full of yellow today. I woke up this A.M to Max holding a butternut squash to his ear.....saying: "Um..yes...I see, I'm not sure....oh really! That is great....no I don't know...OK, bye Stitch".
"Mama...ssshhh I am talking on the space phone with Stitch" (from Lilo & Stitch fame) & in case you weren't quite sure if you had read right...yes, he had a butternut to his ear.

Max...creative...funny & oh so cute!!!

We then realised, too late I might add, to boil the kettle in time for the scheduled electricity cuts. We thought it was 8.30 AM but at 8.15 AM off it went, so Tersh fired up our loud, fuel guzzling, smoke spewing, seriously loud generator. It took him much muscle power to coax the devil to start...but when it finally kicked into life, Tersh & Tammy (his designer) were able to carry on life as usual. Life in 'Aaaarfrica'......
Meet Bessie!

Meters of extension cables & plug adapters.

Priority at it's best...coffee & wireless internet get plugged in first LOL!

We had a kitten in the house this morning....Max discovered his mittens while I was sorting out his winter clothes this AM. Do you remember that rhyme...3 little kittens had lost their mittens....? He loves that story!

My child really squeezed my heart today, by presenting me with a yellow daisy he had found on a walk to the park. He turned to me & said: "Mama, this flower is for you because you are a very special person :o) & I love you very much!"...no jokes, I almost crushed his ribcage with my hug of appreciation. I am truly blessed to have landed a super cute kid like him to love. His love language is so mature, it often leaves me staring with my jaw open.

Well guys that's the long & short of my day...I hope yours was everything as great!

Profoundly 3!

Max...my little 3.5yr old, bless his sweet heart.....frequently acts like he is going on 30. His serious moments never cease to crack me up. Like yesterday, while we were in the car.

......he pipes up~ Mama is it still weekend?
I reply~ Nope Hunni it is Monday.
He is quiet for a while then says.....NO! it can't be I don't like Monday's & I don't want Monday! I think Monday should just go to a different country.....like America!

Hmmmm! he might have something there. LOL!

Nuffinc to say!

I am at a bit of a loss as what to blog about today! My day was mediocre, I didn't feel like scrapping & I have swollen ankles [water retention from the humidity] . The highlight I suppose was that I went to the dentist plus I have to go back on Thursday for a double appointment....I am clenching my jaws [again] & it is cracking my molars.......Nooooo! I'm not stressed, for some reason I just clench, it's a bad habit. Dumb I know!

Well now that you are all reeling from the overwhelmingly profound nature of what you have just read, I will leave you with this little snippet of a conversation between Max & the Mother of a little boy in his class @ school.

We were perusing the puzzle & games isle @ Toys R Us earlier today. We bumped into Jed & his Mother. Maxi started yakking to them as soon as he saw them. Shirley, being the Mum of a 4yr old boy acted suitably interested, in an attempt to quell the stream of conversation & questions preferably before this time next year.

Max~ Shirley look at this! {pointing at the box of a kiddies general knowledge game}
Shirley~ Oh, Max that's nice! {thinking she had gotten off lightly}
Max~ Shirley! Look at this! {emphatically}
Shirley~ I see Max! What is that? {realizing she couldn't get away so easily}
Max~ That is the Sydney Opera House in Australia, that is the leaning tower of Pisa in Italy & that is the Statue of Liberty, in that 'York city' {thank-fully he stopped there, as he couldn't remember the Eiffel Tower}
Shirley~ Wow! Max you clearly know alot more than I do! {looking shocked}

This is where I, now red-faced, sort of threw in there....."Ah! yes he seems to have quite a good memory"; grabbed Maxi by the hand, breezed something about having to dash & ducked! I hate situations like that....I hope she doesn't think I strap my poor child to earphones & teach him Natural history until midnight every night. He just has an interest in things like that so we read about them......fortunately he remembers most of what we read.

My child, doing what he likes best......talking about books he reads!

[Ok...so I had something to say after all, haha!]
