See me in this issue + get your entries in!!

Yay! I am proud to share that this AMAZING #proudlysouthafrican magazine,
Scrap Affairs, is now on the shelves...not only here in SA but in Australia too. They have gone from strength to strength over the last year & I am so proud to be published in it.
Congrats to Candice & her team!

Celebrate Friendship by Kim Watson

White, is the new black, right? Take a look at this project that uses white & neutrals with gorgeous effect. The #january2017 Hip Kit Club kits were fabulous to work with...they just never seemed to end..so I had a ton of pretty#hipkitexclusivesproducts to use for this page.

Clusters of pretty flowers, a combination of fussy cut flowers from Kimberly Krater Hutchison's paper & ephemera pack, cork from 1canoe2 for American Crafts & graphic flowers & leaves from a #freesubscriber printable I designed to coordinate with the January kits.

Placed in a triangle formation, gives the page balance & interest drawing attention to the photo & journaling. Talking about journaling, because I needed more space for writing, I created a patterned paper panel under the photograph, then typed straight onto the vellum. It allows one to clearly read the journaling, as well as allowing the dotted pattern to show through.

Lastly tiny white butterflies placed diagonally across the page are what was needed to draw everything together. I hope you like this idea...? Be sure leave a comment & let me know what you think.

Papercrafts August 2014 issue + a new sketch.

August 2014 issue of Papercrafts & Scrapbooking is out. It is filled with inspiring projects & uber creative ideas too. I am privelaged to have a bunch of projects published in it. Many thanks to the +Papercrafts & Scrapbooking team :)

*Papercrafts August 2014 issue*

Every month Papercrafts & Scrapbooking showcases a sketch with sketch support in the form of cards, tags & layouts. This is the one as seen in the August 2014 issue.

And this is my take on the sketch. A collage of arrows in different sizes, forms, patterns and textures, acting as a asymetrical border. The busy-ness of the collage is balanced by the presence of white space on the left side of the page which allows the eye to focus on the photographs.

 Love that you stopped by.
Thanks for letting me share my love of papercrafting with you.

Sketchy Summer + a FREE cut file.

I recently submitted a page for a sketch call for a Canadian magazine... it wasn't selected so I thought I'd post the page here :) When the mag came out I realised why they didn't take it... because my fellow Fancy Pants DTér, +Diana Fisher, had submitted one using the same collection. hahaha! Isn't her page just fab?!

Cut files: My own FREE for your personal use. [LINK]

Summer Longbeach 2014 by Kim Watson (simple version)
I thought I might have some fun with this sketch & do another version of the page with more detailing. The differences are subtle but I think I prefer the busier one. Which one do you prefer?

Shifting gear + Layout

Do you like scrapbooking on the diagonal?

I don't do it often...it messes with my head. Until recently that is...I decided to shift gear & get off the 'x axis' for a change.

I tried it for a couple of Fancy Pants Designs projects.......I actually have one of them up on the Fancy Pants Blog today...check it out. The other one will be posted here during the course of the weekend. (if I remember that is...ehem)

Here is a sneak:

oh...oh.....
there is a BONUS sketch too.

Grab it whilst you can.

love ya!

Christmas came early Fancy Pants Designs.

Christmas has come early this year in my craft room with the NEW Fancy Pants 'Merry Little Christmas collection'. Unpacking my box of stash was so cool. The great papers & funky embellishments were so easy to craft with, I have x2 more pages almost finished, which I hopefully will post during the course of the weekend.

Once laid out on my background page,  the elements immediately sparked the idea to try a grid design. This is how my page turned out.

Best Day Ever by Kim Watson
I created little clusters within the over-all 'grid type' design. Sequins add flashes of twinkle as well as a grounding visual triangle within the layout.

Pops of black are a great way to create visual anchor points.  I used some awesome new steel dies from Technique Tuesday!
Don't you just LOVE the new veneer die cut titles? Fancy Pants Designs has a bunch of great versatile veneer designs to choose from.

I have a little some special for YOU today, I put this FREE 12x12 page sketch together based on my page. I  hope you find it fun to try out! If you use it, remember to link me up to your post so I can check out your creative work.

Remember it is sometimes the smallest things that bring joy.

Fave supplies + a Sketch

For a bit of fun I decided to use the Chic tags October 6th sketch for a page. I used a combo of some their great tags, teamed with Fancy Pants Designs & Technique Tuesday Stamps

Chic Tags have awesome tags like these, that making creative layering a breeze.
Also used this collection, Collecting Memories from Fancy Pants Designs.

Here is my take on their sketch: Life is Good by Kim Watson

I love how the pops of black give the page 'omph' :)

Vellum speech bubbles make the cutest photo mats & add great subtle texture.

Don't you just LOVE the wooden cut out title from Fancy Pants?? They have a bunch of amazing designs... see here>>>

Hope you are having a great weekend & manage to grab a little bit of crafting time in amongst the to-do list!
Glad you stopped by!
