Fireside supper!

Ok...so no one's interested in the challenge from yesterday......no worries.....I'll do it myself & keep the RAK :o)

We did dinner differently last night.....
It was cold enough for the first fire of the season......cozy & warm & hardly any smoke (our home usually smells like a campsite after a fire). Max & Tersh did a sterling job of getting it going....even the dinosaurs helped carry sticks.Mushroom & zucchini pasta & grilled chicken....YUM!! Good thing Dad was OK with sitting at a 2 foot table on a tiny chair! Max was so stoked!!
Here is a L.O I did not so long ago about eating bangers & mash with glitz.....! Is it me or does this pic look sort of swiff??
Well lovlies.....keep smiling!

Challenge time....

A good friend of mine & I were chatting over the weekend about scrapping. We have both come to the conclusion that motivation usually gets us amped to scrap more. A page call, RAK, L.O feature, etc, etc. So I have decided to put up a weekly challenge to motivate us......there are no major prizes but a small RAK is always good for the soul. All who do the challenge by next Wednesday & email me a copy of it, will get their L.O's featured here with a link to their blog.....keen??

The first L.O is one from the latest issue of Simple scrapbooks. Let's do it about someone we admire...either someone we know...or not for that matter.

Come on guys...it will be fun. Let me know if you are going to play along!

Karaoke King!

Wanna see something hysterical...watch Max doing his Karaoke king impression with Hannah...bear in mind he has never heard the song or words...he is just 'bubble gumming' along.

Cute hey!!

P.S Please excuse the questionable filming technique....it was Moi! behind the camera.

Ok I'm back!

Ag...I could but I'm not :o) going to apologize for being for being so absent from the bloggy world since ......Thursday.....my nerves, as long as that?? I just didn't feel like it. After a week of solid scrapping I was really tired of my paper, PC & photo's.

I am pleased to report tho' that we had an amazing weekend!
Breakfast overlooking the beach on Saturday AM was perfect.....but Maxi was having trouble with his chest again, so didn't stay too long and opted to spend the arvi @ home chilling, with Disney's~ Dinosaur movie on DVD. Sometimes getting Max to sit still, is the best way to get his chest relax & open again. Sit still he did....what an unbelievable movie!!!! To think it was made in 2000 & they were already achieving such high levels of animation...WOW! if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour & watch it. (It has a good story too).

My quirky husband, has a pallet for really odd sandwich fillings. Check this one out.....

Peanut butter, apricot jam & cheese Knicknack chips all piled thickly onto homemade wholewheat bread~ Uuugh! it looks so gross! On Sunday after church, we headed behind the boerewors (type of Afrikaans sausage) curtain (loosely translated~ North Cape Town, where all the fancy Afrikaans people live), to visit the Semple family. What a fine time we all had too.....we were fed & entertained all day....thank-you you lovely bunch!! Max is so taken with the Semple kiddlets that he has officially adopted them as Cousin Hannah, Caleb & Joshuah.....welcome to the family guys. As it turns out, Andrew's Mom's maiden name is Watson too, so I suppose we are related a couple of times removed. We went to the park to let the kids run & I managed to get some great Semple family shots. Prepare yourself for a photograph marathon...
I won't post too many pic's of the Semples....you can go to Stef's blog & see them there...did you notice my bloke on the plane jungle-gym???? 46 (& a haaf-properly said with an American draawl :o) & still fit & able to play & climb with the boys.....I'm glad he's all MINE!!! heehee!

Well that's all for now folks...have a super day!

No time.

Hi guys...sorry I have been so quiet on the bloggy front but my free time has been taken up with SCRAPPING this week! Flip! I am so amped that I just can't stop. I am on my fifth L.O since Monday.....good going hey? I have felt such freedom to use stash, stash & more stash this time that they are turning out really nicely. I am pushing myself to try something a little different to the way I usually scrap & found it completely liberating. You'll have to wait to see them though because I still need to photograph them.....here are some older ones to look at though.

This is a page from Maxi's first year album. I added all sorts of PS brushes to the photo before printing it.
This was one I did for a CK page call for the Jan issue. They didn't select it butI had a 'BLAST' doing it. 16 pic's on a 12x12....clever hey!
Chat later folks!

Found!

I found one, a beaut of a typewriter and it only took x2 thrift shop stops. Not only is it in perfect condition but is came with a carry case & manual too..........all for the incredibly ridiculous price of
R25=$3.29..... I'm not joking :o)

After a few trial runs, I think I am getting the hang of it. Crazy tho', that in this day and age of technology...I had to phone my Mum for instructions on how to use this little' darlin' LOL! So watch this space, as soon as I have done a project using it I'll post here.
A pic' of Maxi going 'BOY!' on a money ride. (This plane is called the Red Baron after the Baron Manfred von Richthofen, who was an extremely successful fighter pilot during World War I. Credited with shooting down 80 enemy aircraft and preferring to fly a brightly painted red airplane, Richthofen became popularly known as the Red Baron.) The only reason I know this is that Tersh chatted to an elderly man whilst we were watching Maxi. It turns out, he flew these types of planes in the First world war & knew all about the Baron Manfred von Richthofen. Isn't amazing, the interesting people you pass in the street on a daily basis & never even realise the stories they carry with them.

Here's some more L.O's for you to look at:
Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!!

Relax!

It is 8am, I am on the couch, sipping vanilla coffee & sorting photos, while Max watches Little Einsteins. It is a beautiful Autumn day (if you can call 23C Autumn-ish) outside, with the sun shining. Our weather is so weird these days with it being 14C one day then 30C with fire warnings the next??? Here in SA our homes don't have internal heating or double glazing, so it gets cold inside really quickly...hence we or should I say 'I', am a complete ninny when my feet & all other sticky-out appendages go numb from cold. The grouch sitting in 15 layers of winter woolies & large gorilla slippers....that would be me!

I am looking forward with anticipation to this morning because Tersh, Max & I are heading out this morning, for a bit of a look-see @ some second hand & junk stores. I have my heart set on finding an old type writer, so if any of you guys see one in reasonable ' nick', please let me know, OK! Now all I have to do is dear my sweet, lazy husband out of bed!

I know many of you girls are heading into summer....& I assume you should be starting your summery scrapping too. I have done quite a bit of scrapping lately, so I thought I'd post a few L.O's over the next little while for a bit of inspiration.
These two aren't recent but really cute anyhow...so enjoy! And I have been carding some more (are you proud of me Sam :o) I am really loving how cards are such a great way to use up off cuts & are so quick to do that all it takes is 10 minutes & they're done. It doesn't take much effort to be able to send some scrappy love out into the world.
Well everyone that's my post...I really hope you get to relax a bit today too!
Chat later.

Stolen moments!

I got a call from Maxi's teacher asking me to fetch him from Play school early. That he had been complaining of a sore stomach & back all morning. He had mentioned the same symptoms for the last couple of days but without fever or the obvious toilet visits I didn't want to medicate him. Shame, today he was really struggling with uncomfortable cramping, so a quick visit to the pharmacy for Buscupain, Probotics & Electrolytes (all for a whopping bill of R98.70) I settled him on the couch with a DVD. Afterwards he pottered around, while I did stuff around the house.

I caught him on camera, quietly sitting in the kitchen on his red dot mat (he had dragged through from his bedroom), with his electrolyte juice, a bowl of pretzels & the biggest story book in the house, reading. By the end of the day he had perked up considerably.
This picture I managed to capture from the outside, through the glass sliding door without Tersh or Max seeing me. It is always a great feeling to see how dedicated Tersh is to his little boy in the evenings before Maxi's bedtime. They were playing rough & tumble and cars in our room (please note the chaos). Max is definitely on the mend by the amount of activity happening. A far sight better than the early part of today.
This is a pic of our supper roasting...chicken, small onions & washed, unskinned potatoes with steamed veggies. It looked so yum that I had to take a photograph of it. Only when I downloaded the photo's did I notice myself in the left hand corner...turned out quite creative I think.

Well you lovely lot I must get back to my scrapping. Have a grand day!

'Art' you cute!

I have been trying really hard to get Maxi to engage in crafty activities. I have to keep them focused on subjects that he relates to otherwise his attention span is about 1 minute....so yesterday we made a mobile for his room. It was of planets, stars & included rocket & the little Einsteins....right up his alley, so much so that he did it happily with me for most of the afternoon.

He started off the exercise by by covering himself in stickers.....I call it part of the 'mental preparation process' needed to psych himself up for a craft session. We then coloured in all the relevant bits 'n pieces...& he did quite well actually considering his usual modus operandi is to scribble. We then stuck all the paper onto card board....with the amount of glue he used...they will never come off. I then cut the pictures out, tied fishing gut to each of them & he helped me tie everything to a reshaped wire hanger. Viola! a gorgeous mobile which he proudly tells everyone, we made together.

Fig. #3
A a gift to encourage him in his love of space, our solar system & planets; I found Maxi this amazing wall chart. He educates both Tersh & I every opportunity he can, about what the names of all the planets are. When I was his age, I didn't even know what space was, let alone what the names of all the planets are. Times have definitely changed. LOL!Don't you love bright colours....especially if they are fat envelopes that are jet setting overseas as we 'speak' :o)

Slow day!

Not much happening on my side today. I am hoping to get some photo's retouched & printed out, so I can get down to some serious scrapping. I have got a few cool ideas tho' that I want to get onto paper.

Busy weekend!

We were so busy out & about this weekend, that today was the first time I have switched my lap top on.We were invited to a Prince & Princess party on Saturday & I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet, little miniature 'royals' that were milling around in their finery. Princess Erin Russel was in her social element & delegated tasks to all within earshot, who happily obliged. Of the couple of boys there...Max was by far the loudest, busiest & wildest on the coin operated arcade rides, which were a unanimous hit, with the weather outside being chilly & totally unsuitable for sparkly dresses. It ended up being a fun, fabulous birthday party. Princess Erin looking adorable....
Castle cake looking scrumptious (made & iced by her Dad, Rodney)
Present time.
The littlest Princess, Callan, looking gorgeous in here fushia tutu.

Today after we dropped Cas off with her Mom, we took Max to Kid's Planet to play. It is a new play center in Muizenberg with a great Space theme, fabulous educational activities & awesome play apparatus. The kiddies & parents, alike had a blast.
Enjoy your day guys!

Spoilt!

I was so spoilt this morning by two amazing girls, who I am privileged to call friends. We drank delish coffee, ate gorgeous food & had a fine time doing what we do best....YAK!
It is so great having friends where conversation is never a problem, we are all at a similar place in our lives, we all scrap & have blogs we love to update. It was the formula for a FAB! morning.

Girls thank you so much for the thoughtful pressies & excellent company....you are both complete STARS!!!
PS: Jo & Anita, you were missed but we will do another morning like this soon XXX

A card a day.....

....sorts out the scrapping itch!

I have found lately that I just haven't had time to do many 12x12's, so I have opted for a card or two, that take me about 10 minutes each to do. You should try it some time. It is a great way to use up scraps too.

Have a rockin' day guys!

Finished!

It is finally done. The liquidation of my clothing company finally happened today. It has been going on for a year now with my partner dragging things out, leaving me hanging and waiting. Even though I haven't been involved there for a year now...it has been hell for me, the never knowing what is going on, the lack of communication from my partner, ug! it has been horrible. Well I went to court today & the papers are signed...I am free at last. Thank the Lord!!

Afterwards, my bloke took me out for a celebratory coffee @ a new restaurant called Knead, on the beach, overlooking False Bay. It was a stunning experience. They have renovated this beautiful deco building to its former glory, complete with million crystal chandeliers & marble work.
We had such a great time together. Flat Joscie was our guest...of course. And we dined on pastries made in the Knead bakery & perfect coffee. Flat Joscie did however, get very distracted by the Roxy shoes @ the surf shop at the back of the restaurant, we know how much she loves Roxy pumps; we could hardly pull her away LOL!
When we eventually did, we took a short stroll on Muizenberg beach & admired the view of Simon's Town & Cape Point in the distance. It was short lived though, because minutes later the heavens opened @ we were pelted by sheets of icy rain. Winter has arrived in the Cape :o(
Have a great day everyone...until the next exciting blog post..hahaha!
Luv ya!
